Why You Should Ditch Steady State Cardio and Workout for Afterburn

Is your current workout regimen giving you the figure you want? Are you able to maximize your time in the gym? Or, are you like many who spend a couple of hours on the treadmill each week and end up with little to no change in sculpt at all?

Although steady state cardio is good for your heart, it won’t boost your metabolism that much. Sure, you’ll lose some weight at first but your body will easily plateau. If you want real results and achieve it efficiently, try raising your EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption) levels through a more intense interval workout.

EPOC is essentially an oxygen debt. After a highly intense workout, your body will return to its normal resting state, with the aid of oxygen. High EPOC levels mean your body will have to increase the rate at which it consumes oxygen (VO2). This process, in turn, will boost your body’s metabolism and create an afterburn effect for up to 48 hours. That means, you continue burning more calories even after workout! That’s achieving more for the same amount of time (or less) you spend on the hamster wheel.

So stop wasting time on steady state cardio. If you want to achieve optimal results for your cardio and figure, try a high intensity interval workout now at your local Elk Grove fitness center.
